Job Summary:
The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and inspecting bridges and other structures to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The incumbent will play a critical role in developing engineering designs, evaluating construction plans, performing inspections, and providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle. The Bridge Engineer will collaborate closely with other engineering professionals, architects, and construction teams to ensure successful project completion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop detailed plans and specifications for bridge and highway projects.
2. Conduct structural analyses using industry-standard software to evaluate the performance and integrity of bridge structures.
3. Perform calculations to determine the structural capacity, load distribution, and resistance of bridges.
4. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards for all bridge designs.
5. Collaborate with architects, construction teams, and other engineers to integrate bridge design into overall project plans.
6. Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and cost estimates for proposed bridge projects.
7. Conduct regular inspections and assessments of existing bridges to identify maintenance needs, structural deficiencies, or safety concerns.
8. Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing contractor submittals and responding to design-related queries.
9. Review and evaluate bridge-related proposals, designs, and construction plans to ensure adherence to project specifications.
10. Stay up-to-date with advancements in bridge engineering technology and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge engineering or a related field.
4. Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and structural analysis programs.
5. Strong knowledge of bridge design principles, codes, regulations, and standards.
6. Experience in designing and analyzing various types of bridge structures, such as concrete, steel, or composite.
7. Proven ability to produce accurate engineering calculations and structural analyses.
8. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively.
10. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
11. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
12. Familiarity with construction processes, materials, and techniques related to bridge projects.
